Welcome to the c3voc lecture hall operations handbook.

This site is intended for our volunteers (angels) during daily operations, as well as people building up our lecture hall setup.

For A/V Angels

A/V angels are volunteers who operate our cameras (aka Camera Angels) as well as the video mixer and sometimes also the audio mixer (aka Video Mixer Angels). On some events both roles are managed in one angel type, on bigger events we split it up into camera operators and video mixers.

For A/V Technicians

A/V technicians are responsible to keep the talk-to-talk operation of the lecture hall running. They provide microphones to the speakers, help them hook up their devices and are the first level of support for A/V angels. Therefore, A/V technicians should know how to do operate the camera(s), video and audio mixer.

For Buildup and Teardown

The buildup of a hall should only be done by experienced people – even though the setup got quite a lot easier to assemble with the new “Case 2.0” concept. So if you want to help, please ask some A/V technician or VOC crew member for contact information and show up for buildup. Especially on smaller event (aka not the Chaos Communication Congress) we usually have enough time to show you how it’s done.

Please adhere to the standard setup unless told otherwise by the person responsible for the hall. This procedure helps to reduce errors and outages because of false assumptions.
